THE ROLE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION BY MEDIA ORGANIZATIONS IN RESOLVING CRISIS AND CONFLICT IN NIGERIA.
CASE STUDY: CROSS RIVER STATE
The bedrock of any relationship is built through effective communication and where there is no communication there is bound to be chaos. Effective communication is very crucial in the process of communication because communication has the power to make or mar relationships, the power to create, prevent and end crisis/conflict, thus, stands fit as a weapon used for effective communication.
Effective communication should be harnessed by the media organizations to curb crisis and conflicts in the paradise city, Cross River state. Most times crisis have occurred in cross River state and it is very difficult to ameliorate because of subtle efforts to communicate and inform the public about the issues, like the case of open grazing.
Open grazing of Cattle and other domestic animals have been seen to cause conflict; where cows feed on the locals farm produce whereas causing hate and enmity between the grazers and the locals, but if they are duly informed about a remedy for this situation, it can prevent conflict between both parties.
Media organizations are charged with the responsibilities of preventing and resolve crisis/conflicts and the power of communicating effectively which plays a major role for conflict resolution in the state. A better Cross River state I pray, where indigenous live in harmony without dispute, where we thrive in unity and bask in the thrill of our city called, PARADISE, this is my dream for Cross River state.
